Creative Connections - Brighter Days Ahead

Join us as we plan one of our most exciting arts projects - Creative Connections - which is designed to bring a sense of comfort and connection to residents of Care Homes and others in Perth and Kinross, whose wellbeing has been so negatively impacted by Covid19.

Working on a theme of  Brighter Days Ahead we hope to create an online film library of local artists at work, producing informal workshops in a series of ‘how to’ films made available on our website here (www.generatingopportunity.com) and YouTube channel.

Our film library will include drawing, painting, photography, sculpture, print-making, marbling, creative writing and crafts, to motivate participants to become artists, dabblers and crafters - at whatever level of engagement they choose - for enjoyment and wellbeing.

We will make a ‘welcome’ film to introduce the project and our artists, so everyone feels confident to participate, knows how to get support and also feels part of a wider community of 'creative collaborators' in a shared endeavour to build our community back up.

Once the workshops are online (hopefully in the spring),we will focus on supporting participants over the following months to complete whatever activities they choose and support them with Art packs.

Then, we will ask them to share pictures of their artworks so we can create an online exhibition of their brilliant work and make a film to share and inspire others to do the same.

Project Co-ordinator Linda Grant explains,

'During the first lockdown, we responded to an appeal by Ninewells Hospital, Dundee, to make pairs of knitted hearts for Covid patients so that one heart could stay with the patient and the other sent to their loved one as a token of togetherness We also sent them to Care Homes and individuals on request and were moved to tears by people's responses.'

'We wanted to do more to support these people and we hope that Creative Connections will be a small step towards helping our community build back better.'
